Where is Tim Tebow going?
- Updated: March 19, 2012
Now that Peyton Manning has made his decision and is headed to Denver, the Broncos are saying they will be trading Tim Tebow. So where would a good landing spot be for Tim Tebow?
Financially, Jacksonville and Miami would be ideal spots. Neither team is really set at quarterback and both teams would guarantee themselves with years of playing in front of sell out crowds. Tebow is a God in Florida and either of these teams landing the legend would lead the league in jersey sales.
Miami is about to get Alex Smith though and the Jaguars should be ready to give up yet on second year man Blaine Gabbert just yet. Both of these two quarterbacks may be better NFL QBs than Tebow, but neither is good enough to survive the pressure and chaos rabid Tebow fans would bring to the table. Even in preseason, I could see the crowd breaking out in “Tebow” chants every time one of these quarterbacks entered the game.
Only one team makes sense for Tim Tebow, the New England Patriots.
The Patriots were interested in drafting Tim Tebow originally, so there is definite interest there. Tom Brady would be safe from even the most rabid Tim Tebow fan. I can’t imagine any chants breaking out in New England when Brady comes on the field like they did in Denver…in the very first game. Tebow playing 3-4 years behind Tom Brady could only help him grow into a better quarterback as well.
Tebow would also be reunited with the coach that drafted him. Josh McDaniels drafted Tebow and is now the offensive coordinator for the Patriots. McDaniels knows Tebow well and would surely utilize him in some packages. I don’t see any downside for New England to make a play for Tebow, it will be interesting seeing what the Quarterback will be worth in trade value.
